Franchise Mode Schedule

Why is there no way to change or edit the schedule? Once the new NFL schedule comes out in May, there should be an update or download available with the new schedule on it for the new year. I'm assuming it's not done so you have to buy the game every year. There are downloads to update your roster with draft picks etc available in the Community but why not have a schedule download available for the upcoming year?
