Opposing Team Receives Ball in Both Halves

When playing in Franchise mode the CPU team frequently gets the ball to begin both halves. What is the logic that justifies the opposing team getting the ball at the beginning of both halves. Also, in some cases the opposing team gets the ball deep in opposite side of the field with little yardage to score a touchdown. No kickoff. They just start the half a few yards from the end zone.
