Madden 26 defense suggestion
I have reservations about recommending Madden to a friend due to the game's current defensive mechanics. In the past, before next-gen, players could effectively counter basic route combinations by selecting a play that countered the opponent's play. However, the current game requires a more complex approach, involving the creation of custom man-zone defenses that are not readily available in the game.
This can be frustrating, as players may not have sufficient time to make the necessary adjustments before the ball is snapped. Furthermore, opponents may exploit this by waiting for the defensive team to make their changes and then flipping the play, forcing the defense to start over. To address these issues, I propose the introduction of a Defensive Playmaker Mode in future versions of the game. This feature would allow players to create and customize their own defensive plays, save them to their playbook, and access them through audibles. This would enable players to respond more effectively to meta plays and flips, and would also encourage them to explore different defensive strategies and formations.
While creating custom defenses may have its drawbacks, such as leaving a player uncovered, it would also promote a more dynamic and strategic gameplay experience. Defensive Playmaker Mode would add a new layer of depth to the game by forcing players to think creatively and adapt to different situations.
