Simulating practice

In previous versions, in franchise mode as coach or GM, you could set your offensive/defensive focus, set your focal players, set your strategy (HC, OC, DC, PP), and then you could simulate practice based on your parameters. Now, I think that if you set strategy then start a game, it will give you the option to simulate practice, but I am not sure if it follows your parameters if you just back out and I know it changes your offensive and defensive focus back to whatever it had set it for before you changed it. So, say your defensive focal is 'defend outside run' and you change it to 'defend inside run'. But to start the play you have to click completely out of the strategy part and when you do, your 'defend inside run' changes back to 'defend outside run'.

So, I have carpal tunnel really badly. I need, especially the GM role, to be 'hands off', where I set my offensive and defensive focus, set my focus players, set my strategy (HC, OC, DC, PP), and then click 'Simulate practice', and get it all done. Then I can go in and get my upgrades if I leveled.

My least favorite part of the game is when it forces me to try to be somewhat dexterous, like having to choose from 4 different options, timed, or trying to manually run practice (I can't).

So please make simulating practice and strategies possible like the other games have had (up to 22. I did not get 23 or 24).

It is entirely possible that the way is there, and I just haven't figured it out yet.

Just an FYI about this issue: I play on a PC. It might matter.

And like I said, I think when you back out, you lose whatever you had set for your Offensive and Defensive focus. It goes back to whatever the computer had chosen before you changed it.

    Hey!

Thanks for breaking that down. It's super helpful to understand exactly what's going on with the simulation process from the players' end. Not everyone runs into the same situations.

It definitely sounds like an extra step having to back out and reset your focal points just to simulate practice. I can see how having that dedicated "Simulate Practice" button (like in previous versions) would streamline things, especially since you like to watch the simulations and track the results more closely.

I’ll pass this feedback along to the team so they’re aware of the current flow and how it’s impacting the experience. While I can’t promise immediate changes, knowing how players are interacting with these features is key to helping us improve things moving forward.

If anything changes, or if you have more thoughts about how the system could feel smoother, feel free to drop them here.

Appreciate you taking the time to share this—it really helps! 🎮

    Thank you, EA_Shepard

Here is what is happening. I can go in and set my offensive and defensive focal points (ex. Defend inside run, throw medium), then I can pick my focus players (3-6), then I can set my strategy (HC, OC, etc.) To be clear, I am fine with all that. I don't want those changed. At this point in prior games, there was a simulate practice button, which is missing from this version. What I can do is back out after setting all that, go to play game, click it, and it will give me the option to simulate practice. But it resets my offensive and defensive focal points to what it had before I changed it. So, if I go to change it and it says, 'Run Inside' and I change it to 'Deep Pass', it will change that selection back to 'Run Inside' when I back out. And then I have to click back out of the Game Start screen to get my practice upgrades before starting the game again to simulate it. I like to watch the simulations.

What I'd like is a button like previous versions had where you set your offensive and defensive focuses (Run Inside, Throw Deep, etc.), you set your players to get extra attention (3-6), you set your four strategies (HC, OC, DC, Personnel), and then you click 'Simulate Practice', and it simulates practice, then gives you a list of the results, gains and losses.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with Franchise Mode and how the practice simulation process is working for you. It sounds like you're looking for a smoother, more hands-off way to manage your team's strategy and weekly training without needing to manually adjust settings each time. Completely understandable. It's been a while since I jumped into Franchise mode but I remember it well with those options.

From what you're describing, it seems like the game might be adjusting offensive/defensive focus and strategy settings in a way that doesn't align with how you want to run your team. That is the way I read this, at least. If practice simulation is behaving differently than in past versions, that’s definitely something worth looking into. The ability to set a strategy, lock it in, and let the game handle the rest is an important feature for those who prefer a more GM-style approach.

I really appreciate you bringing this up, and hopefully, we can find the best way to keep your Franchise experience as smooth as possible!

    Thanks!
