Nice machine you have there with the 128Gb of ram. Thanks for taking the time to look through this stuff.
I did download the 1503 bios a couple of days ago when I was checking to see if I was on current versions. 1503 supposedly helps fix the Intel issue with CPU voltage damage. I agree that I should go and check that out as a next step, but both BF2042 and Madden24 ran fine on my current version before installing M24. First I have to go through and document my bios settings (tedious) because these upgrades always wipe out the settings, and then I end up having to start from scratch and spend two days reestablishing a baseline bios config as well as OCing parameters, memory timings, stress tests, etc.
A good test would be to upgrade the bios and then try and run Madden before I make any bios changes, so I'll give that a try. If it works I can slowely add back the other custom stuff until I run into a problem.
The F version of the 14900K processor just eliminates the intel graphics as you probably know.
I did have virtualization enabled awhile back because I was running Linux in a VM, but now I run Linux on a separate PC. Just the same its worth turning it back on to see if it helps.
Regarding Windows 11, initially there were a lot of claims that games were running slower on Windows 11, so I avoided it. I also understand that it is impossible or nearly impossible to install and use Windows 11 with only a local account. I have been building and using PC's since the early 1980's, and the recent efforts to force people into logging into a Microsoft company server in order to use their own PC is an unbelievable BigBrother type thing for me, but I'm sure there is a way around that if I Google a bit.
Isn't secure boot required for you to run Windows 11? Maybe I'm confusing it with Trusted Platform Computing? I'll do some research.
I know what DMA is, but I'm not sure what Kernel DMA protection is. I'll research.
Thank You for stimulating my brain a bit.
No Joy on the BIOS upgrade. I upgraded the bios, rebooted with the base default BIOS settings, went directly into Madden 25, when the main menu came up I exited, and black screen hard lockup.
Now I have to go through and reapply all of my bios settings. I think I'm going to have to ask EA for a refund. I bet I have 8 or 9 hours into troubleshooting this thing, but I've only played probably three games.
