Different player variations, now allowed at same time?

I always thought we couldn't use differnet variations of the same player ont the field at the same time.

So a peppers MLB could be used beside a peppers LE, Or say A Suh CB when using a Suh  QB. I certainly was allowed to, so why have I just seen a Console player, not XBSX but PS5 using both Adrian Peterson in his own HB position while his OOP QB card was being used?
