Franchise IR Issue/Bug

TL;DR - Franchise using wrong/outdated IR system. Bug where players keep getting re-injured while on IR and can’t return.

Sadly I’ve noticed that the IR “issue” that has been an annoyed stable for franchise is still in the game. The official NFL ruling being an unlimited number of players can be put on IR, with only a limit of 8 being selected to return. For some reason, Madden is still only allowing 2 players the ability to return. With a new bug not even allowing just 1 player to return, long after they healed and sat out their mandatory 4 games.

Both offline and online I’ve experienced these issues. My offline Lions, Penei Sewell got injuries week 2, I am in the last week of the regular season and he is still unable to come off from IR even with his status says no longer injured/the message from my coaching staff is telling that he is good to go. He is also constantly getting “re-injured” after every training week even though he is on IR. The exact same issue is plaguing my online franchise with the Panthers. With them constantly getting re-injured somehow, it is changing what their main injury was that got them on IR to begin with.

  • This was a problem last year too. That seriously sucks it carried over...needs to addressed asap as it really ruins a good season.

it's because Madden is an NFL game that doesn't understand NFL rules. there are all kinds of things like this that just straight up don't align with how the league actually functions. in addition to IR blatantly functioning incorrectly, the practice squad rules are wrong, gameday inactives are entirely missing, no CPU draft trades... they're just winging it on this stuff, there's no actual representation of how the NFL operates.

You’re absolutely right but me being dumb and buying into the hype for this game, with it being their contract year, I figured they would’ve attempted to fix these things.

You can also throw in how contracts work. Why can’t we front load or backend contracts? Allow us more flexibility with the cap. CPU players demanding trades. Unable to resign a star player or a player of high rating should trigger some dispute, either them asking for a trade or sitting out games. Or the fact that same stats aren’t even tracked like dropped passes or qb hits/pushers.

Yeah IR is glitched. Doesn’t appear to be a workaround either except to not put players on IR.

By now I was hoping they would try to roll out a hot fix for it since it impacts franchise severely but seems like I was wrong. Gonna have to hope either by the end of the week or next week when they do their first big update that they address it. Just sucks when you get a season full of injuries and basically have to play with a much smaller roster.

  • Yeah, it's been messed up in the previous Madden as well. I have only put useless players on IR, such as an old 30-something year old, and I'm trying to get him to retire, or some guy I'm not gonna re-sign anyway.

Yeah I was initially going to say I thought that was included in tomorrow's update, but it's definitely the next one which does really suck. At least we know it's coming by what the notes said though
