Franchise Mode - Playoff Tiebreaker Question

For teams that are tied for a wildcard spot who have not played each other and have identical conference records, how is the tiebreaker determined? I guess, I'm wondering if there are written tiebreaker rules. When I asked google, the AI answer included a potential alphabetical sorting of the tied teams, which would be a little crazy!
