Defense must be fixed.

Defense is the worst that it has ever been in any Madden. 

Every quarterback has a lightening perfect release regardless of pressure.  The WRs catch everything and the only thing that matters is their height.  This allows for anyone to just fire the ball into coverage and likely get rewarded for it. There is no point trying to actually read the defense and sustain drives because you can just chuck it up into triple coverage and even if played perfectly, the user controlled defender will drop the pick or get flagged for DPI. The mesh routes always get open even against “hard flats”. The defense is slower than the offense no matter the ratings and will actully just stop and stand still while the offense just literally runs circles around them.

You put in all these complex motion plays which is great in theory, but you add nothing to the defense playbook besides stunts which are completely worthless because the qb can throw the ball pretty much instantly to one of the many quickly open receivers even with pressure in his face which still rarely happens. The dline does not shed any blocks, you must use AP for them to even have a chance to shed and even those abilities rarely light up. In MUT you continue to add OP 6’5 WRs with 95 speed and no counter on defense.

I use to enjoy watching Comp games and tournaments, but every high level game has turned into who grinds out the most clock because even the best players in the world have know they have no chance to stop a semi competent player on offense. This makes the product completely unwatchable. Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES has more realistic defensive strategies. At least Tecmo Super Bowl balanced the game by making the defense faster than the offense, making the games interesting at the very least. This game is a huge step back for Madden and has made the comp scene unwatchable even for those of us who are interested in following it. You really need to try and salvage this game by putting some kind advantage back to the defense instead of completely removing it from the game.
