Defensive controls aren't working and only Multi Meter kickin on PC

If I do the defensive moves in the tutorial, they keys work as they should, but if I play any challenge or solo against the computer in Ultimate Team, the keys are not working. For example, if I try the A or D keys for swim moves, it's just changing players. Also, even though I selected classic meter, its still using multi-meter. This happening for anyone else? or am I missing something?
