Sigh. Servers. Sucks.
The Run level 1 game 5... up by 10 points with under a minute remaining in the game...
BOOM. servers go down and I know for an almost 100% certainty that disconnects, not matter where they originate from (my connection... EA hamster dies... fiber optics between here and there get dug up by hobos looking for copper wire) you get credited with a loss.
But in the Run, which has become a lot more challenging in the mid to later stages of the last few seasons (the League is a lot more forgiving), losses are limited and if you hit the threshold for that tier -- the Run is two and done, meaning you have to redo all four games leading up to the fifth game you were about 30 seconds from completing. In fact, since the League has become more difficult to complete, I haven't gotten a Tier 4 finished in the last couple of seasons. I know it's only 1/32 of the tokens for the Champions Fantasy Pack, but I like to stock up on those while I can (side complaint -- I think those 32/32 fantasy packs are barely worth worrying with, two players ago the 10 fantasy picks included two kickers and a punter so 70% were garbage ; and the last player, two weeks ago right before Season 8, I picked the best player available, a 98 WR and with my Team Chemistry bonuses bumping up WR-1-WR4, he was barely good enough to be WR5 and is no no longer on my team - end side complaint).
Did EA have a scheduled downtime? The new EA forums / site is so confusing, I don't bother even browsing it unless I'm having recurring issues, so if they announced downtime, I would have avoided even attempting to play.
