Madden 27 Soundtrack Wishlist: Owl City - Embers

Hey everyone,

With the Madden NFL 27 reveal and beta officially here, I’ve been thinking a lot about the soundtrack direction. I really want to see the music team lean back into that classic, high-energy early-2010s aesthetic that made previous games so iconic.

Specifically, I think "Embers" by Owl City (from the 2012 album The Midsummer Station) would be an absolute masterpiece for the Madden 27 menu rotation.

Even though the artist is known for softer pop, this specific track is a driving, synth-heavy rock anthem that fits the sports gaming grind perfectly for a few reasons:

The Franchise Menu Pace: It has a steady, rhythmic four-on-the-floor momentum that keeps you energized while scrolling through playbooks, managing depth charts, or rebuilding a franchise.

The Underdog Theme: The lyrics are all about resilience, fighting through hours of adversity, and keeping a fading spark alive—which is the exact mindset of a competitive season.

The Stadium Hook & Bridge: The massive, soaring chorus sounds like an arena crowd chant, and the bridge builds up perfectly to give you that pre-game adrenaline shot.

Modern soundtracks have leaned heavily into one specific genre, but adding a stadium-ready track like this would give the game some much-needed variety and a great nod to 2010s nostalgia.

What do you all think? What other throwback tracks or genres are you hoping to see in the rotation this year?
