100% CPU usage

Been getting an issue since launch where seemingly out of nowhere while playing Madden on PC, the CPU usage will spike from 30-50% to 100%. This causes the game to freeze and often lose connection to the server. Once this happens, it will run fine until the end of the current game. Sometimes if I pause quick enough after the start of the spike, it will not remove me from the server. PC specs are:

CPU I7 5820K 3.30 GHz

32GB RAM

GPU GeForce 980TI

Searching around on the net I have seen and tried possible solutions of turning OpenGL rendering to the GPU and turning shader cache on. Neither has worked.

Short of going in and toggling every single possible setting in Nvidia control panel, what settings could reduce the CPU usage spikes?

  • Still the same issue after the changes. Any other sugestions would be appreciated.

  • Still having this issue. To be more specific, when I say I'm losing connection to server, I am assuming that is what is happening. I do not get an error message saying per se  I lost connection to server. I get sent out to the main menu after finishing the current solo battle/solo challenge. I can finish the game. I have changed power settings in Windows to prefer performance, I have turned the graphics down in Madden 21 to the rock bottom settings. Nothing has changed this behavior. In Madden 20, I got these freezes and the games continued just fine and I got credit and could continue playing. The same was true in Madden 21 until the servers went down at the start of Most Feared a few Fridays ago. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix this issue.
