activate microphone for Madden NFL 20

I am a gaming newbie who is playing Madden NFL 20 with a friend over the Internet. We both have headsets with microphones hooked into our controllers which are linked to our Xbox one x consoles, but we do not know how we should activate the microphones so that we can communicate with each other during the game. We currently are using our cellphones to talk to each other during the game, but we want to activate our microphones. I am using a HyperXCloudX microphone. Which buttons or settings do we need to use to get our microphones activated for communicating during the game?

  • Hi there, @SocStat42.

Are you guys in a party together? If so, when you look at the party, is there a message about not detecting a microphone or a problem in general? When it's working normally, you'll see your gamertag light up when sound is detected.

  • Thank you for your response, @EA_Aljo .   A speaker icon now lights around my gamertag on my Xbox one x screen whenever I speak into the microphone linked to my controller. I did not notice this earlier; consequently, I shall get my friend into another Party later today to see whether he can hear me now or whether there is still no sound on his end.  Again, thank you!

  • @SocStat42 I am happy to report that, after my friend and I go (unmuted) into a Party, we are now communicating through Xbox, but I am now getting a major echo: Whenever I speak into my microphone, I hear my exact words repeated to me through my headset within a moment or two. I gather that my friend does not hear this echo, but I hear this echo which disrupts my ability to communicate more than two words at a time. Is there some way to eliminate this echo?

I'm glad it's working! As far as the echo goes, what kind of headset are you using? If it has a mic monitor feature, try turning it off or lowering the volume. It's also possible your mic is picking up the sound coming from your headset. Turning down the chat volume may help.
