controller doesn't work at all madden 21 pc

I am using an Xbox Elite 2 controller both wirelessly AND via USB-C on my PC. When the game loads up, it's as if I have the left stick held down in a random direction, as the on-screen selection just begins going haywire. I can't use my controller to make any selections. It randomly selects things and gets me to parts of the game I'm not trying to reach. I simply can not use my controller - and KB/M haven't been reliable either. Please view the video linked below for a visual of what's happening. Please help!

  • Hi @SilentFury007

Do you have any other USB input devices connected to your PC in addition to your controller, mouse, and keyboard? If so, can you try disconnecting any other devices to test and see if that helps at all?

FINALLY got in touch with the EA tech support team.   After a pleasant discussion and a short wait, I was informed that the EA team knows about the issue and is working on it.  NO estimated time to fix.   Not real jazzed about the news that I purchased a known defective game.  I expected better.

  • Hello Kent,

Thank you for the response.  Short answer is Yes.   Even gone so far as a clean install of Origin and Madden21.   Still same issue.

I'm having the same issue. I did a clean install of windows and tested things before reverting back to my backup. It's so infuriating that I can't even play the game with my controller. I have tried everything I can possibly think off, except refunding the game I guess 🙂

    Thanks for the updates!

I know you've tried a lot of troubleshooting already. Did you have a chance to try starting up your PC in a Clean Boot to see if that makes any difference at all? If not, would you mind giving it a shot? You can find more information on how to set one up over at the EA Help website

Let me know how that goes when you have a chance. Thanks again.

  • I've had the same issue that's only seemed to start today, again with my X52 seemingly taking over the controller slot. I changed my preferred controller to my xbox controller in windows and so far I've not had it again.

Yup I had the same problem, I had two other USB devices connected (flight stick, flight throttle.)  Once I disconnected these and rebooted (make sure you set up your controller in Steam) everything is fine.
