@TTZ_Dipsy Isn't that exactly why there are different game modes?
Before I continue, I'm not the same person as the original poster, nor do I wish to put words in his mouth. But I feel like sometimes people don't seem to understand that this game, this video game, is based on a game in real life. That's why when we talk about it being a simulation it's important to have authenticity that makes it relatable to real life. It's not like other video games where you don't have expectations of how it's supposed to work.
Look, I just played a ton of Campus Heroes last night. It was a different game mode, and it played that way. But there are still fundamental ways all current modes lack in providing a authentic gaming experience. It's really frustrating to have some dude call horrible HORRIBLE plays, run around like an idiot, and then be rewarded with a touch down because the defensive AI is completely static and doesn't do the most basic actions to prevent the very thing that makes people win and lose in this game. For example, I run the ball in a 3 TE set, someone with 6 or 7 defensive backs should NEVER be able to stop my running game by shooting the A gap the entire game. It's just not even in the realm of possibility, yet that's exactly what happens in Regs, MUT, and Campus Heroes because the game at a fundamental level is broken, poorly designed, and stupidly catering to idiots.
You look at something like the MCS, and we have 8 people that all run Gun Bunch and use 335 wide on defense. All of them! And it's got nothing to do with football. It doesn't makes any sense from a football perspective. It's just nonsense. It's actually disturbingly disrespectful to the game of football. Yet here we are celebrating this style of play at the expense of a game that some people are really passionate about.
So what could we change? How about punishing everything that's not actual football? How about making game mechanics that don't celebrate the antitheses of what football is? How about starting with the most obvious and most egregious sins of this game:
1) Make contains actually contain the QB.
2) Make Deep Half Zones actually do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, other than watch WR's run by them for TD's.
3) Have an actual pass rush instead of allowing people to sit back in the pocket waiting on EVERY PLAY for a deep crossing route to break open.
4) Stop allowing people take out all their linebackers and augment their run defense by shooting the A gap.
5) Add defense AI resistance to zone and man coverage so that if you run the same exact play over and over again you are punished for that.
I could really go on and on here, but that's just 5 of the first few things that come to mind. And dude, I've only been asking for this for like 25 years, so I'm sure I'm kind of a broken record by now. But if you could or anyone else could please forward this on to the development team, that would be great.
