game is free on steam but cant open?

the game is completely free from the 13th to the 17th, and i downloaded to see if it'd be a good purchase. ive been sitting here for 15 minutes struggling because origin is saying "To play Unidentifi...

    Hey Everyone, 

    Apologies for the delayed response I had to be out of the office, I did send this information to our team to be aware of and it seems the issue should have been resolved in time to enjoy the game for the weekend.

I download the game through steam while it's free, to see if I want to go ahead and purchase it. Download the dumb origin launcher. Log into EA. Then it says "Unidentified Game - Activation Required, please use your product code to activate the game blah blah blah. I obviously don't have a product key because the game was free on steam. Now I'm worried that if I DO purchase the game, the same thing will happen and I won't even be able to play it. EA, I know you're an awful company, but this is absurd. Apparently this has been a problem for a long time, as I've discovered threads from the day the game launched.

What, so I just don't get to try the game for free even though it's free on steam? Glad I downloaded this worthless origin installer.
