game won't start, how do i change in game settings without being in game

So basically i bought the game and starting playing it and around with the settings, i changed my direct x to 12 though i can only run 11 which i didn't know. Now i can't start the game and get an error, is their a way i can change internal game settings without being in the game to fix this?

    Hi @Twitch_A8AR

Let's take a look and see if we can help get you back up and running.

First, have you had a chance to try repairing Madden 20 in Origin to see if that helps at all? If you right-click on the game in your Origin library you'll see the repair option when the menu pops up.

Let me know how it goes when you have a chance. Thanks!

Gotcha. What else have you been able to try so far? I just want to make sure we don't go over the same things again if we don't need to.

i have tried basically everything above, my main question is can i go into the files of the game and modify the game user settings somehow? i had this problem on fortnite and i went into the game user settings and manually changed the directx value or d3

You can try editing the .ini file for Madden 20 to see if you can force the game to launch in DirectX 11 that way. If you open up the folder where Madden is installed on your PC you should be able to find the config file there.

In that file there should be a value for DX11 or DX12. Editing that might help, but be careful on what you're changing there in the file. Adjusting any of the other values might lead to other issues altogether.

  • @EA_Kent i've gone into the program files x86 for the game and haven't been able to find config, am i looking at the wrong place?
  • @EA_Kent also could their be a command line i can do to change this setting? in the advanced launch options
