If the other player loses connection you'll receive a win because the server identifies them as quitting. If a connection issue happened during the game and you see a win at the results screen, that indicates their connection broke off from the servers first. There are two connection error messages. One will state they lost connection and quit while the other will indicate a basic connection error has occurred. It's likely you received the basic connection error where a hiccup at some point happened which triggered the servers to registering your account as quitting the game for that brief moment.
The outcome you experienced isn't fair at all and I feel for you and others that have came to the forums with similar stories. Connection issues are extremely frustrating. When you're up 42-0, let's be real, it's unlikely they would have caught up to you if you were heading into the 4th. Some wild things have happened in real life NFL games like the Colts comeback against the Bucs a long time ago, so anything is possible. The game isn't over until it's over though.
The team is always looking at ways to remedy situations like this on the tech side. For the moment though, our Support staff has no tool capabilities to remove losses or grant attempts back. It's simply outside the scope of what we can do at the moment. I understand this wasn't the decision you were expecting and appreciate you coming here with your feedback. If you're interested in any troubleshooting we're here to assist you, although I do recommend covering your bases before jumping into any ranked matches by power cycling the console and network. That is always a good step to do every month or so to keep your connection and hardware at peak performance.
Good luck in your next game, @smitdog97
