madden 20 feedback

I wanted to provide some feedback on Madden 20.

As a user that has been playing John Madden Football since 1988 and the Commodore 64 days, I have seen many things come and go in the Madden series.

This Madden, the physics and graphics are great. I like what you did with the game.

But then you got arcadish on us.

While I appreciate what you are trying to do with the XFactor stuff, it makes the game feel arcadish.

Go back to making a SIM style game.

You have MUT, which I know is a cash cow for you and I don't blame you for keeping that game mode going, but there are still tons of us that play in online franchises that want a more realistic game then the product you put out this year.

I appreciate EA's efforts on patching stuff, etc. and please continue those efforts.

When I play the game this year, I am playing an NFL game, not a college one, correct?

The defense struggles to cover a slant, post or corner route.

This is the NFL, the elite play in the league. Only 5.8% of college football players make it to be a professional.

With all of that said, I do think you guys are onto something.

Again, the game feels much more fluid this year, so keep up the good work and continue to improve on the product that you have.

Next the Madden Companion App, can you please have someone at EA work on this and make it much more robust?

If not, can we get a website with much more functionality?

NCAA Football had this, made by EA, back in 2014. A competitor had functionality like this back in 2004! Not knocking EA, I love Madden, but competition was a good thing, not a bad thing.

On NCAA's site, I was able to do recruiting and such, from the website.

Shouldn't be hard to duplicate those efforts. That site still works today, I know, because I am in a Dynasty that still uses it.

It would be awesome to be able to handle trades, set depth charts, some administration type stuff, etc. for Madden through a site/app while at work throughout the day.

Lastly, is there ever a chance that games like Madden will support cross platform play?

How awesome would it be to have a franchise with guys from XBox 1, XBox 2, PS4, PS5, Switch, Stadia, PC, etc.
Even if it had to be the current generations of systems would be awesome, so XBox 1 vs PS4 vs Switch vs PC or when the new ones come out, XBox 2 vs PS5 vs Stadia vs PC, etc.

There are games out there, like Fortnight that do this so it can be done.

Thank you for your time and reading this,

The Niddler

  • I agree with a lot of what was said, especially the part about the X Factor making the games less realistic and increasing blowouts to the point where people concede games rather than play them through. I also would like to see a return to sim style online h2h gameplay.

In addition to the XFactor issue, I have also noticed a major problem with the run game in M20. People will run the ball 90% of their plays and have success against almost any defensive coverage unless you sell out to stop the run in which case a simple slant can go for a TD. This is a major issue that needs to be addressed in M21. I think either the blitz packages need to be made more effective against the run, defensive lineman need to shed blocks more easily, or defensive awareness ratings need to increase anytime a user's play call percentage exceeds 70% running plays.

I love Madden, and its been one of my favorite video games for years, but M20 has been frustrating to the point where I have debated whether or not I should even get M21. However I trust that the game will be properly adjusted and I am looking forward to seeing the changes that will be made in the next version of the game.
