Madden 22/23. What am I Paying For?

I got EA Play, later EA Play Pro to have complete access to the Madden series. It seems as if I am downloading a skinny version of Madden and not the entire Madden content you would get if you bought the game outright. No season mode? The interface is difficult to navigate and goes directly to Bucs vs KC or gets stuck in build a player mode. No season, no career mode. Very disappointed.
