It is January and this is still an issue. Had to adjust my depth chart twice in a week. Put a player on the Trade block and it reset my depth chart. Traded said player and it reset my depth chart again. Gonna just quit playing till things are fixed and yes I know you don't care that I am going to quit playing because you already have my money 🙂.
I’ve had the game for a couple weeks now and another issue relates to the depth chart: it becomes unresponsive on occasion in franchise mode, where it does not coordinate with what is set on the chart.
For instance, my team’s top three wideouts, RB1 and TE1 can’t enter the field at any point within an on-going game, even though they are first on the chart. Adjusting the chart in-game only changes the order of the players lower in the pecking order. Which basically excludes my best players from the game.
Keep an eye on your rosters in-game.
