Madden NFL 20 Retiring from EA Play Games List - March 31st, 2022

Hello, Madden NFL fans.

We have come to the decision to retire Madden NFL 20 from the EA Play Games List as of March 31, 2022. To continue playing this title you will need to own the full version of the game by purchasing it from your preferred retailer.

Thank for being an EA Play member,

    Good morning, @face438

The official statement and reason why online services are taken down can be found here

Having games in a library does come with a cost of maintaining it. The Madden community tends to jump to the latest title each year. Madden 22 and 21 are currently in the EA Play List where most of the community is, therefore it's best to own this title outright to continue playing it going forward.

  • What if you bought the full game on origin back in 2020 and now it's not even in your game collection?

  • How wonderful. I paid for the game at full price through origin specifically because PC is the only way I can play it as I couldn't get a PS4 or 5 at the time. Now that it has been removed from Origin/EA Play, how do I get to play the game I paid for? I didn't pay full price just to rent the game for two years.

  • That's great an all, I never played Madden 20 online as I am a dedicated offline Franchise Mode player. I bought the full version of the game for PC through Origin. All I want to do is to be able to play the game offline, in and offline franchise mode. I don't need to access anything else. So how in the world can I do this? The game for some reason always needs to access Origin/EA Play just to run. How can I bypass this and play the game I paid full price for? I feel ripped off with this purchase and I am very unhappy about this. This is the first time I have ever bought a game and have the company that made it remove my ability to play it. I should still be able to use it. If not, nothing when I bought the game told me this was a limited time offer and I want my money back. I would have never have bought it knowing this.

Don't you love the non-answer on this situation? Just like you, I bought the full game through Origin to play it on PC as I don't own any newer consoles. I swore them off awhile ago and became strictly a PC player because I was tired of all the things console versions of games missed out on and all the mods you can get for PC games. I don't recall Origin ever saying this was a limited time purchase and that I wouldn't be able to ever play it again, even though I bought it outright and all the files are stored on my PC. Why the heck to I still need Origin or EA Play to access something I already have installed on my PC? I never played online anyway, just offline franchise modes. The lack of response is very telling that they really don't care. Their answer is to go out and buy another version of the game we already bought? Seriously? They think this is going to make us want to buy any future products from them?
