Madden NFL 21 Next Gen Update - How to Upgrade

Hey Madden NFL fans,

We're on the eve of the next generation of Madden NFL with the worldwide launch of Madden NFL 21 on Xbox Series X\S and PlayStation5 on December 4. Dual Entitlement players will be able to access portions of the game as early as today, so we want to be sure you're aware of the latest status and how to get your upgrade.

The PlayStation 5 version of the game is not yet connected to the servers as we’re doing final testing on a problem for which we’ve submitted a solution. We will provide updates this evening on its deployment as we head into launch, but the game can be played offline in the meantime.

How Do I Get It? Madden NFL 21 can be downloaded on next gen consoles for players who have purchased the game on Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4. Starting now players can upgrade their copies of the game to start playing on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 offline. For those players who purchased a physical copy of Madden NFL 21 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and upgraded to a discless next generation console, you will need to Contact EA Help to validate your purchase using your account information to receive your free upgrade.

Here's how to upgrade Madden NFL 21 to Next Gen!

Sony Disc to Disc

1. Sign in to your existing account on your PS5 console (or create an account).
2. Insert the eligible PS4 game disc.
3. Go to the game hub for the PS4 game.
4. Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.
5. Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.
6. After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 digital game by inserting the PS4 game disc. You will need to keep the disc inserted each time to play the game.

Sony Digital to Digital

1. Sign in to your existing account on your PS5 console.
2. Find the PS5 game in PlayStation™Store, or by Search, and go to the game hub for the PS5 game.
3. Select the upgrade offer on the game hub and review the upgrade offer.
4. Select Download (or purchase with the discount price) to download/purchase content.
5. After the download is complete, you can play the PS5 game.

Xbox Disc to Disc

1. Insert disc and Series X|S stub will automatically be installed.
2. User will be prompted that the game needs an update.
3. Once the update process completes, the game can be launched.

Xbox Digital to Digital

1. Digital is bundled, so players will have access as usual and will be prompted for the update.
2. Once the update process completes, the game can be launched.

Xbox & Sony Disc to discless digital console (Cannot start until official launch on 12/4)

1. Visit help.ea.com.
2. Click the ‘Dual Entitlement’ button.
3. Complete the Webform.
4. Provide proof of purchase.
5. Receive your code and start playing!
6. Start the redemption process here.
