If you’re talking about the 2019 season, EA_Blueberry is exactly correct that it’s a cap restraint. Remember they still have Brady on the roster who’s probably at $20-$30M per year.
I was drafted by the Bengals, where the O-line gave me less than a second to pass the ball. I demanded a release (because if you don’t win they cut you anyway). Simmed the remainder of the season. I noticed Brady retired after the season. The Pats were 1 of 7 teams to offer a contract: 7 years, $168M for my 85ovr QB.
