Offensive line award rankings glitch?

I recall offensive lineman award logic being discussed as something that was updated for this madden. Thus far, it’s worked better, it appears to factor in sacks given up, team’s record, player rating, and downs played.

However, I did notice something very odd in week 11. A team that is 10-0 had their backup left tackle (only played 4 games and a total of 8-10 downs played and 0 sacks allowed) as the #10 ranked player in the afc for offensive line award. It appears that every starting left tackle that has played in more games and has at least 400+ downs played have given up at least 1 sack. There were 3-4 left tackles who had given up 2 sacks and only 1 with 1 sack. The rest of the top 10 were guards or centers who have given up 1 sack or 0 sacks.

my hope is that over the season, this backup left tackle should not show up in the rankings and one of the left tackles who have given up the least amount of sacks relative to left tackles with more downs played would show up in there. It’s very heavily skewed to listing guards and centers in the afc on the list.

any chance this changes as the season goes on? Anything that needs to be tweaked in order to prevent this from happening?

  • @StiffBucks13 Yep, I noticed this in my first run through on franchise as well...RT Matt Peart for the Giants played 71 snaps all year and finished in the Top 10 top o-line.

These awards have always been kind of spotty at best, if you remember last year Everson Griffen for some reason was showing up as a rookie in defensive rookie of the year for a while at launch. "Most polished" version of the game...yeahhhh
  • @gogiants98 man, I was hoping this just happened to me and that it would resolve itself over the course of the year. Hopefully, those guys are not earning a pro bowl spot in place of the guys who actually played most of the year and had a lot of downs played.

This version has been better than most previous versions but there are still some things that could be cleaned up for sure.

As an update, I got to week 14 and it seemed to be updated once more games had been played. It no longer has an odd or peculiar logic to ranking the o lineman. It seems to have stabilized somehow with more games played.
  • Yeah I've noticed the same.  My team is currently undefeated 12-0 and my back ups are on the best OL list.  Funny my 95 OVR Center and 93 OVR Right Tackle don't make the list but my scrub 70 OVR back up LT, and my 73 OVR left guard do.  EA is awful.

  • @StiffBucks13 I had my 3rd string RG finish the season at #2 after playing a grand total of four snaps... FOUR!

Dang, it's almost like there is a process to catch this... I think it's called QA but EA has never heard of those initials.

Sorry to hear that, guys. It sounds like it still is an issue.

it does seem to factor in the least amount of sacks given up, team record and/or stats, position, and the players overall rating seem to also be factored in. Tackles will naturally give up more sacks than a left guard in this game. However, LTs and RTs will not make that list as backup guards or centers will make it over them.
