Sub your players out and back in. It should deactivate their abilities when you do. Or just swap them around until you hit 6. Same issue here btw. 

i just subbed out for the players they force you to keep. heritage ones. Then subbed back and main guys were deactivated. If they are in multiple positions in the depth chart you have to remove them from all of them and sub back.

Found a fix for the issue and it is a trash one 🙄 You have to go to whatever offense or defense and one by one remove from line up and place back on. It is garbage because you are using the bare minimum of the players attributes but at least you can play. This is my last year buying a new title 25 and college 25 are both pre owned purchases this time around. Buying the game new makes no sense nor any reason to be excited 😒 so yeah but I fixed my cap abilities issue by removing from line up a placing back on 

I just went and removed my entire line up and found that if I leave the not needed slots open it allows me to play
