PS4/PS3 controllers don't work  with alot of games unless you couple it with a xinput wrapper like DSTool.   Xinput basically takes your current input and clones it to be an xbox controller.

Simple and free download. 

"It's not a fix it's a workaround"  It's a workaround that works...  I've been using it for many titles...

I've downloaded two seperate DS4 - Xinput softwares and neither one of them are working. Running it through steam in big picture mode isn't working either. Any other options?

@Stencilthethird Having multiple wrappers running can lead to odd behaviour, so it's probably worth removing what you do have installed. Afterwards you can restart with a clean boot, and try a new one. DegarnE mentions DSTool, I've heard of that in a positive light myself, can you try it?

Hmm,  double check and make sure it's actually detecting as a Xbox One controller in the game input devices menu.

Sometimes the software can be a bit quirky,  I don't have any DS4's handy to test but I have issues intermittently with my DS3's where i'll have to reconnect them, I ran into this problem occasionally with FIFA on PC.


My friend uses a DS4 fine so I know it works with the tool.

I know it's a pain in the *,  but the key is to make sure the controller shows up as a "Xbox Controller" under windows.

Just finished downloading the game,

I'm using a Generic PC Pad that is a lot like a PS2 pad. Which works just fine for me in every other game I play (on Steam)

It's very annoying that it won't let me remap the buttons to my own preferences from within the game.

Currently, the A B X Y buttons all seem to be mapped to my R1 L1 L2 R2 buttons, when I try to return kicks the receiver just runs it out for safety without me being able to control them.

one solution that worked for me i found on reddit.  you have to use ds4windows.  

install ds4 windows but don't run it

unplug controller

start up madden and wait till you get to the screen that says press any button

Plug in controller

start up ds4windows

the ps4 controller will work properly, but still show xbox icons.  

i have tried several other options and this is the only one that worked for me.   hopefully a proper fix will come out

Same issue for me, just using a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad. It's ugh... all buttons are mapped to L1. Just the D-Pad is working.

It's showing as an XBox 360 controller in DS4 Windows

I have a logitech F310 and I have to unplug my mouse and keyboard all the time in Madden 19 but in Madden 07 and 08 it all works (keyboard Razer Deathstalker Chroma and mouse xtreme gaming)

I'm having trouble with the xbox one control, it recognizes but stays with the keyboard. then he recognizes the mouse and moves the player, along with the control of the xbox.

I hope EA makes a patch soon 

It worked for me with DS4Windows for 2 days. I had one weird loss of connection and now it´s back to the wrong input format where all the buttons are assigned wrongly. 

I tried using a new profile, tried connecting via USB AND bluetooth. 

I can´t get it back running. I have no idea what I should try next.

This is a game issue! All other titles work fine and recognize the PS4 control input with DS4.

madden 19 gets stuck in a loop trying to select controllers. Even if one disconnects all controllers or joysticks it still loops to the select controller screen.

For some reason it is now working in about half of my attempts to start the game. However, whenever it is working the mouse cursor pops up when I do any presnap-adjustments (R1/R2/Square/Triangle) etc

I have a logitech rumble pad for my pc.  it works for every single game i ever need to use it with ...  except madden 19.   I'm about to just reach out to my credit card company and get my money back.    

I cant do anything.  the sticks are inverted, the buttons are out of whack and when I go into settings i can't remap any of them to make it right.      

this is messed up for a $60 game.   

I got my Logitech to work by moving the slider on the back to X from D  ( I have the Logitech F310)

Does this method still work for you? I have tried multiple times with no luck

Can you explain how you got your F310 controller to work?

What were your steps.  Are you using DS4Windows?

Thank You EA_Barry. disco'ed my hotas. Then xbox controller worked like a charm.

ds4 worked fine on the beta, but the full game assigns all the buttons incorrectly
