- WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace@EA_Blueberry Any play. If I don't do a QB slide, he will fumble almost every single time. It could be a scramble or a designed QB run and he will still fumble. This last time, I was running into the endzone and tried to lower the shoulder to get the last half yard, for the touchdown, in a one on one situation, and he fumbled as soon as the defender touched him.

@WrathOfHades85 This is more by game design and it's been like this for several Madden titles now. You'll fumble with Lamar Jackson unless you activate Truzz. It also is dependent on whether the player hit sticks you and their X-Factor abilities. This is to help keep running QBs in check from relying on running the ball instead of being a passer. You can easily pick up some short yardage, but if you decide to try for more the risk is that you could fumble if you don't slide. - WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace
@EA_BlueberryI can understand the hit sticks and x-factors, but the thing I don't understand is just the safe tackles. I use an X-Box controller for my PC and the safe tackle button for that is the "A" button. Myself and my buddy never use "X" or the hit stick, because 9/10 times, the guy will just fall on the ground and not make any type of tackle attempt. (EA broke the hit stick, over the last few years).
My point is, using those conservative tackles, the QBs will fumble almost every single time they get touched. You know how receivers are, with catching passes? They will catch it, then someone will come and graze them, causing them to drop the ball. Well, same goes for the QBs. Someone grazes them and they will drop the ball. They don't even have to be getting tackled. I've had my QB fumble on a broken tackle, numerous times. I can understand trying to level out the game, in a running QB sense, but that also takes away quite a bit of realism, because they fumble so much it becomes cartoony. Football is football. Defenses can't stop running QBs very well, in real life, but I don't see anyone telling them that if they get tackled, they have to fumble the ball every time, just to keep it fair. Lol.
It's a simulation football game. It's supposed to be realistic. I can understand a pocket QB, who is always ready to pass, getting stripped, but a running QB? Nah...he should be able to carry the ball the same way a RB or WR can and shouldn't fumble any more than they do.
Don't get me wrong...I see what they are trying to do and I do understand you. I'm just saying that their attempt in doing that makes things too unrealistic, in a cartoony type of way. I just want normal fumbles. I don't want to have to turn the slider to the point where people don't fumble anymore, just to ensure he doesn't fumble when the wind is blowing too hard. - EA_Blueberry5 years ago

@WrathOfHades85 I get your perspective on how running QBs shouldn't fumble at the rate they do because in real life they don't. I think it all comes down to balancing. Making it more realistic may not ultimately lead to the best game balance/experience.
Double-check your ball carrier to see if you have it on conservative if you're fumbling too much though. If you don't have it on that, could be a factor. - WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace@EA_Blueberry Thanks brother. I'll keep messing with it. If I am able to find a balance, where the RBs still fumble, but the QBs don't quite as often, I'll definitely let y'all know.
I agree everytime I run with Lamar and he gets hit he fumbles???. That makes me not want to play because what he’s good at is running and I can’t do that because ea decided that even though Lamar has a 99 carry let’s still make him fumble every hit. Also, everytime I run somehow the linebackers and defensive tackles are able to catch me. That makes no sense he blows by them every game. But I can’t run past either of them makes no sense.
But he doesn’t fumble that much so why would you guys make it that way. People love running with fast qbs and you punish that by everytime they run and get they hit they fumble. It’s hard to run past defenders on this gmse with fast qbs because apparently defensive tackles and linebackers are as fast me down getting to the out of bounds isn’t always a thing
- @TalkinBot I'm a bit confused reading your assessment. I do not play with Lamar (or Vick or the same) but if I face them in Solos in Competitive mode (e.g. in MUT Solo Battles) I did not see him fumble all year long. and there have been a lot of Solo Battles against a team with QB Lamar (or Vick)...
it is less severe in H2H (but I did not play H2H so much this year) but to me it seems to be more likely to force a fumble against fully powered-up HBs (no matter whether on the first play of the drive...) than to do the same with a scrambling Lamar or Vick... - WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace@Neo_Novalis Honestly, I've seen it happen way more against AI, than I have against a human opponent. The amount of fumble for a QB are just astronomical in connected franchise, against AI. I could be running and a guy could trip up my QB and he will fumble. It's bizarre.
@WrathOfHades85you mean, this is the case if you do a usered scramble with your QB and the AI defender forces the fumble? agree! I don't play with Lamar or Vick, but the ratio of strip sacks to sacks is huge (e.g. for my QB Joe Montana in MUT or Jimmy G in offline franchise). I pretty much don't concede sacks against the AI, but I would guess that at least 1 out of 3 sacks results in a fumble.
but if I try to strip the ball or do a successful hit stick on an AI Lamar while he scrambles, it's almost impossible to force a fumble. I can only remember one time where I forced Kyler Murray to fumble with a hit stick.... but Lamar or Vick? never.- WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace@Neo_Novalis That's the issue. The AI seems to be relatively immune to it. It could be Tom Brady running and he'll rarely fumble, even if it's a hit stick. The human player seems to have the random fumbles happen, while running with the QBs. At least from what I've noticed. I mean, it is what it is, but I just feel if they just made the "Carry" attribute matter a bit more, on this game, people probably would be more understanding.
I actually just played one of my "player career" games, as a QB, went to scramble and decided I would slide. Yet, as my QB was going into his slide, the game did that thing where your RB or QB gets gravitationally pulled into a defender or defensive lineman and all the guy did was spin my QB around. Never tackled me, but as soon as he touched me, I fumbled. Lol. My guy is a scrambling style QB, yet he fumbles every time he's touched.
I definitely feel like that's an issue. - WrathOfHades855 years agoRising Ace@Neo_Novalis It happens on read option plays as well. If I don't slide and attempt a juke or try to barrel into the end zone, from the 1 yard line...fumble.
- @TalkinBot Probably stamina, after the 1st time he'll be pretty tired
@ATHLETICMONSTAwhat I've seen so far, stamina seems not to matter for these scrambling QBs (or at least matter much less than for HBs; although I really do not understand why a silver HB in a MUT Solo Battle survives 3 hit sticks in a row in one drive and does not fumble the ball, while my 98 OVR Barry Sanders fumbles the ball when touched for the first time on the first play of a drive... the odds are sometimes really odd in Madden). when I face Lamar or Vick in a Solo Battle game on All Madden difficulty and he starts to scramble 2-3 times in a row and I tackle him every play, he did not fumble either...
So quarterbacks need to have high fumbling rates in order to prevent excessive use of running?
Got that. Makes sense.
Now explain why in the world by far the best rushing quarterback in the game, Lamar Jackson, has an ability that completely prevents him from fumbling and can be activated by excessively running with him in the first place?

That's the balancing act there. It's an ability to give him a temporary boost to his already excellent running skill.
I'm also a big fan of Battlefield and other FPS games. Realism doesn't always translate to fun. Should every FPS game be realistic like Rainbow 6 where a few bullets drops you? The hardcore fans love that, but I can tell you that a ton of my friends do not enjoy it because they're not skillful enough to last long in the game, nor have the time to commit to getting better. There is "skill curve" where you'll have a lot of players quit after X amount of time when they feel they aren't having fun anymore or feel they just can't compete with everyone else (who likes to lose a mass majority of the time? Some don't mind it, but most do).I also see a lot of feedback on how everyone is using the Chiefs and Ravens in Online H2H. I have to say, I wish I'd see a lot of more variety in online H2H games myself, but when you have a game like Madden where it's highly competitive where the object of the game is to win, it makes sense everyone is using those two teams because they have highly skilled quarterbacks.
What would happen if Lamar Jackson didn't fumble when tackled like you see in real life? This is where player behavior comes into effect. Players will start to default to running over passing, which is:
A) Not what Lamar Jackson was focused on improving this year (he ran far less)B) Not what the core QB position is
C) It becomes unbalanced because players are able to pick up an additional 1-3 extra yards every run because they can now dive or get tackled while moving forward with no risk of fumbling it.
My speculation is it will create an environment where the community will then want Lamar Jackson's speed to get turned down to balance it out. But why would you turn down his true speed in game? You'd have to also turn down everyone else's speed too, right? So that's not really a solution.
To sum it all up. He would be too overpowered and the mass majority of games online would be Ravens vs. Ravens. No forget balancing. Give the people what they are asking for please. You brought up that this has been a problem in multiple madden titles and each and every time, people have asked you all to fix it. I’m not sure who it is, whether it’s ea or any other partners, but this needs to be fixed. Madden os a simulation game. Meaning that it has to be or at least somewhat close to real life. No QB fumbles every time they get tackled or hit hard in a game. This is a CONSTANT PROBLEM in madden. You’re not just balancing the game, every time you do this, you give the defense a chance to take over and score points just because you’re running with your QB. We didn’t get many agile QB’s in any other madden games. This is the only era in which Madden has implemented an area of performance for the mobile QB’s of todays NFL. People are losing games because of this and it makes the game less fun. This is why your sales continue to decline, why your gaming ratings are always at 2 to .5 stars on google, why you’re making stupid advertisements such as madden land and the new scouting system, and why you all continue to put out sale after sale after sale. 20% this day, 40% off that day, Black Friday super special, cyber Monday extravaganza, whatever. So fix this problem please. Please, at least within the next update or two, please fix this problem. It’s annoying.
I have truzz on 96 Derrick Henry qb card and he literally fumbles every single time weather he is hit by an X factor or not.
