Screen Pass?

Has anyone been able to run a successful screen pass in the last 4 or 5 years of Madden? My running back is constantly getting hung up on my offensive linemen and my QB cannot backup fast enough to get away from the D Line while waiting on a RB that cant run around a lineman. If I do manage to squeeze a pass off there is ALWAYS a defender right there.

Screen passes used to be very overused and overpowered in past Madden titles, thus the team did make some changes to tone them down a bit and restrict hot routes to them.

I tend to see my RB get hung up here and there, but it's really all about finesse when you're toss the ball to the RB. Try going into practice mode and run through different types of screen passes to see which one works for you. I'm still trying to master the TE screens.

  • They are pretty much never worth running. Decent plays happen but most of the time hb gets stuck. You can try to learn to throw away quickly but for the most part don't do it. If the team balanced screens by making running backs run into the offensive tackle, that's stupid beyond belief.. They should not be stuck indefinitely. It's a problem with awareness collision and less about the timing. But the other reply is correct do other screens that aren't hb screens and they'll be viable.

  • @Insta_Buzz Screen plays do work. While I don't run them much, I have had a few go for big gains against me because of the defense I was running (makes a big difference).

If the edge rushers are in contain (which is POPULAR when people blitz this year), they will abandon the pass rush and run with the back after the screen blockers leak out. The defender will be in good position to make a play, because he will be between the blockers and the back.

Against a zone defense, you will be able to get the most yards, as long at there are no contain assignments on the field.

Man coverage will usually beat a screen unless the man defender on the back is on the wrong side of the field.

    Hope this helps.
