Turning off Console to Avoid an Online Loss vs Conceding Defeat

Product: Madden NFL 23
Platform:PlayStation 5
Which console generation do you have? Sony PlayStation 5
What is your gamertag/PSN ID? CrashingWave39
Date/time issue occurred 6/12/23
What type of issue do you have? Exploit
Which mode has this happened in? Online head to head
Summarize your bug People cut their network connection or power off their console when they start to lose a game. Sometimes, I don't get the win when that happens. When someone's network cuts out, they should get a loss. It's not their network given the timing. Also, unrelated for real network issues, if someone has a bad connection, you should get to stop playing without conceding a loss. Some really bad connections make it very hard to play. But my main concern is the cheating to avoid a loss.
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In the code for the game, if a connection fails suddenly on one side, they take a loss no matter what the score. This will prevent people from powering off their console to avoid a loss, plus, powering off a console while winning to try to cheat a win or leave a game without conceding.
What happens when the bug occurs? Every time I play, at least 1-2 games end that way early if it starts to look like I'm going to have a 10+ point early lead.
What do you expect to see? I expect someone to play the game fully or concede a loss, not turn their console off or cut their network connection to escape a loss without taking a loss on their record. This has been going on for years, including on XBOX. There is some sort of cheat/connection issue that people have used. I think it should be very clear - your connection cuts out, you lose. Sometimes mine may do that and I'll lose, but it would be legitimate vs a trick to avoid a loss.
PS4 Crash Reporting: Please copy the text you put in the crash report here. Same thing happened in PS4 Madden games.

"connection to your peer has been lost"

Then I don't get a win despite having a 10 point win at least, sometimes as far along as midway through the 2nd quarter. I know others have complained about this. The more that cheating can be taken out of online, the better.

    Seriously!

    I run into this constantly!

If they implement the suggestion above this will also give a more true set of analytics to reference, because we all know that most of these "connection to your peer has been lost" messages come from people shutting their consoles off to avoid a loss. I do it too! I would literally stop if it went against my record. If your dynamic match compatibility algorithm is reliable then use it! Let the losers walk either way!

  • No, EA needs to stop them and stop this behavior. Anyone that intentionally cuts their connection, even when winning, should get.a loss!! Automatically. I played a friend, and they just left the game and started playing a different one. I was up by a ton in the 4th. I didn't get a win for that! People escape losses this way. Fix this rampant cheating once and for all. People are trying to win online, and this makes it all a joke. Losing a game, just power off your console and escape the loss. This shouldn't still be going on in Madden 24 or FIFA. It's been going on for years, end it!
