I'm confused by your statement above, can you clarify? You say you can't play the game since it updated, but then you go on to talk about how you're playing the game and going into game feedback about catching. Are you talking about offline play and you can't access online modes?
What troubleshooting steps have you done so far. Re-installed the game, power cycled the console? I want to help you out, let me know what platform you're playing on.
No doubt this sounds frustrating as heck, I'm here in your huddle if you want me to help. I'll be taking off for the day in the next hour though.
