Android users would do the same thing except turn off all selections within the 'back up & restore' tab in settings. You can also turning off the cloud just in case.

After you get back into your game, then I'm sure you can turn on your backups again.
In fact, don't forget to DO THAT!!!
The only purpose of shutting them down was to get rid of whatever the "bad data" was.
