Madden mobile resource download error

I have tried reloading the game and restarting my phone but am having the same issue. When I try to start an event or game.m, it gives me the download screen and the message downloading animations but will go no further. When I back out of the game and come back it tells me resource error to connect to the Internet. I've tried it on wifi and off and have the same problem both times.
