Can you try running though these steps below, including a full re-install of the app and checking your device for updates?

Ya I've restarted my device, I've re-downloaded the app, and I've made sure everything was updated. The phone i have is a pixel 4A. I've been playing this game for years and never had any issues so I would love to play the new season.

Are you outside of the country at the moment, too? Have you tried toggling WiFi off to connect to the game via mobile network?
Another option is to fully remove the WiFi channels from your phone and then re-add them.
