It appears I got unbanned. I sent a second email, and although the last email I got from EA was the standard “you have to wait at least 72 hours for us to get back to you”, I randomly tried to log in and it worked. A message in my league chat said I had been unbanned 25 minutes previously. Still, no explanation or even notice from EA so I’m skeptical going forward. But who knows, if you want to be unbanned, I guess keep trying. I still think the way this was handled (and is still being handled) is utterly ridiculous

Lemme try... aaaaand... nope, still banned. Both accounts. And still did absolutely 100% nothing against the word or even the SPIRIT of the TOS whatsoever, at all, anytime, anywhere.

Got an email just now that they fully investigated and they are leaving me banned. They mentioned all the bad stuff like phishing, cracking, hacking, etc.

I have done absolutely none of that.

There is no email address to contact them more, other than Lets_talk@ea.com.

It's a terribly opaque system. I've spent three seasons enjoying Madden, playing all the time, now I feel royally messed over.

Try emailing again. I suspect they automatically deny everyone’s first email (after a “thorough” investigation with their crack team of digital forensic scientists, of course), but if you email again they may unban you. Perhaps persistence pays off. Of course, like I said, I still have not received an email saying I’m unbanned, so who knows if it will stick.

I did send another email. Even as time goes by, I can't just give up. I got the automated response "hang tight, don't spam us, it will take a minimum of 72 hours, blah blah) pretty quickly this time (first time around it was 24 hours until I got even that).

The one thing I was thinking, and that I mentioned in the second email, is that I had a situation where a bunch of gold TOTW players were briefly glitched a few weeks back, and applied +8 OVR to ALL TOTW players, rather than just to themselves. With 3+ players, this quickly made my OVR quite high. Note that this was an EA glitch - someone wasn't careful when they loaded up the gold TOTW players - I did not use any hacks or anything, obviously.

EA fixed this issue pretty quickly, but then there was another problem. To prevent players from artificially lowering their OVR by putting in Bronze players to positions that don't matter, in order to have an easier time in H2H, a few years ago EA made it so that your highest OVR EVER is what matches you, not your current OVR. This meant that although the gold TOTW players issue was over, H2H and Tournaments were essentially dead to me, since as an 81-82 OVR, I was routinely getting matched against with 90+. Sure, I'd win once in a while, but there was no real possibility that I could make my way through the H2H tiers or win a reasonable amount of Tournament games. I complained about this (both here and on Muthead) since the whole issue was caused by their original glitch, and to their credit, EA actually did fix this, my OVR went back to what it should have been.

This was all a week or two before I was banned.

So I'm thinking... "right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing"....?!

I'm sure my OVR going up and down looked pretty weird, but you'd think they could tell IT WAS ALL DONE BY EA THEMSELVES, EH?!

I assumed (yes, I now what happens when you assume) that the investigation would show that this was clearly all EAs doing, start to finish - the initial glitch, and the two step fix.

It's probably worth a try. In my second email I mentioned a glitch that occurred about a month ago to me, where I received a bunch of packs when I logged in that I did not earn. They came out of nowhere, I certainly didn't hack anything, and it's not like I could choose to decline them. Anyway, as in your case, it was a glitch on EA's part. Which highlights the fact that their process of banning people, maybe, just maybe, could be flawed and have a glitch or two of it's own. In the end, I don't think we were banned because of these glitches, the commonality seems to be living outside of the US. Of course, I still have yet to receive any official notice from EA that I'm unbanned, so if I were you, I would just try logging in from time to time and see if they unbanned you. Again, the whole thing is ridiculous.

I do keep trying from time to time, though the client has just been crashing out recently (could totally be something with my phone memory or whatever, not terribly worried).

I get my hopes up, then see the banned message, then move on with life.

Add my name to the "banned for no reason" club. Apparently for "coin farming." I had to look it up online just to figure out what that meant. The only way I've ever accumulated coins, and never more than like 200k, was by playing live events, completing daily tasks, and selling auctionable players and collectibles. These are specifically listed in the rules as legal ways to obtain coins! I've never used "bots" or disconnection methods (whatever that even means) to collect coin. I wouldn't even know how to! I'm glad I never spent any money with game. I'd be ALOT more upset than I already am.
