Only if you spend real cash you are able to progress at a different rate, whereas in previous years you had auction house as a levelling factor. With AH gone this has no become a pay to play game, which obviously makes sense for EA as a company, but it’s starting to lose me as a casual gamer.
i know why AH was deleted, but I think it has had the opposite impact and created a greater disparity between players based on if the can afford/or want to spend cash.
@lkbroach i jave been levelling up mu lower 70 players as those are cheaper to do. Downside is indeed that if you pull a 80 player he’s no longer the higher valued one, so uou end up with potentially better players on the bench (as there is no AH) Havent figured out the best way forward yet.
You are 100% not wrong. I am growing a bit more concerned by the day now with my ability to remain a competitive player in this game. I see players on the Field Pass leaderboard now with 6k total Team OVRs and I just feel absolutely defeated with my 2800 Total Team OVR, although I feel as if I have been putting as much time as I can into in the game with the stamina and resources I have available to me without spend. It's really just not a good feeling.
Like you mentioned, in seasons prior, atleast we had the Auction House to compensate for any disparity between those who do and do not spend. This season I feel as if the AH is needed more than ever with how the OVR system is currently designed. Teams are growing infinitely stronger by the day with no sign of really slowing down unless the game physically implements a means of intentionally halting their progress.
I am really hoping this upcoming Kickoff promo is going to more beneficial for no spend users, but if it's anything like what we have seen already, I only see the gap between those who spend and those who do not spend to growing even larger.
Thank you both for your comments! In previous seasons (I’ve played from day 1) EA ramped up the OVR slowly but this year you have to really ramp up fast just to play through any of the levels of most games! First it was having a 20 OVR, then 25, then 30 now 35 and not just 1 player but 2, 3 and on and on. Then the games disappear while you’re trying to build up!
The AH, to me was the most fun aspect of MM! If I knew the games would last til you could ramp up I’d be ok with that!
On Arena with the OVR ranges, I started playing the lower level one at 3,000 and ran off 4-5 straight wins, until I started seeing 4,000+ OVR teams against me and now the only consolation is I meet the Daily Goals requirements because I’m 1 and done! I have accumulated tickets though saving them for a rainy day.
I also don’t like that you don’t know your cumulative currencies needed when leveling up players and once you hit a certain threshold another currency is needed and typically it’s one of the Helmets or Pass/Run ones that only on alternate days are they’re available!
Oh well, the challenge for me is just learning the nuances of the new format!
Thanks!
- 4 years ago@lkbroach In addition I am not a big fan of having to redo all the levelling up now just for the season 1 players to advance in that journey. Seems all a waste of resources, plus 20 players means you”re habing to bench higher ranked players cuz they are not S1

Remember you can create different depth charts for different purposes. It might also be an idea to play every other promo seriously, and save up your stuff for levelling in between promos you're actually going for.

The cross pollination of prerequisites is mind numbing! You have to level up to 35 OVR to play season 1 to completion and then you’re required to complete the entire AFC/NFC Challenges and you can’t finish them until you meet all those prerequisites! It has you using up all your different currencies only to find you need a different leveling up to even completely finish any of the games! Catch 22!
Oh there’s more caveats, but I’ll save it for a different post!
