7 years agoDo you think there should be a cap on how many times you can run a certain play in OD? For example, if a pass or run nets positive yards that counts as 1 attempt.
- 7 years ago@EA_Blueberry I'm not sure capping it only when it has positive yards would have the desired effect. often these plays are ran multiple times in a row. if a player runs 4 verticals and they are stopped then they know if they run that same play again there is a high % chance they will face a favorable defensive play.
I think if all plays were capped at 2 per OD match would be a start. also the defensive so should increase each time an offensive play is used.
ex:
1rst time mesh switch is used there is a 95%success rate
2nd time it drops to 80% success rate
3rd time it drops to 50% success rate
maybe something along those lines. I'm not for removing plays but it has to be managed some way to prevent players from cheesing plays - 7 years ago@EA_Blueberry **** by no means am I asking for the counters to comeback. that was a disaster
- 7 years ago@EA_Blueberry another possibility is maybe lowering the points earned each time a play is used.
first time 100% points earned
2nd time 90% points earned
3rd time 50% points earned
so if each time the play is used it would gain 100 points then
1rst time using the play the player earns 100 points towards their score
2nd time player earns 90 points towards their score
3rd time the player only earns 50 points towards their score.
this would definitely force players to learn the playbook and would be handicapped if trying to spam plays.
this would bring skill and strategy into OD- EA_Blueberry7 years ago

this would bring skill and strategy into ODTBH I really like that concept of earning lesser points for the same play. Still gives you the option to use a play (less restriction) but also rewards you for opening up your playbook more. I'm assuming this only applies for the touchdown itself or do you think on that one drive it reduces the total points earned once you scored?
- 7 years ago@EA_Blueberry if it were my decision to make it would be per OD match and not just per drive. in OD a lot of drives are one play and I'd guess the longer drives at 3-4 plays.
if it reset per drive and the player scores with one play I don't see thus helping with play spamming.
only way I see it working is if it's per match
- 7 years ago@EA_Blueberry those are just a few quick ideas off the top of my head. I'll put a little more thought into it and see if I can come up with better possible solutions.
thanks blueberry for having a conversation about this and trying to work towards a possible solution.
I'm sure gatorfan will have some great ideas on this too- 7 years ago@Sp3w4567 That was a Buccaneers team in that screenshot. But I swear that it wasn't me 😂
As far as ideas, well my biggest wish is that the defenses adjusted better to our play calling. I'm not sure I would want too many limits on how we can call our games. Spammers are an unfortunate part of the game but I can't think of any reasonable way to stop it.- 7 years ago@thegatorfan122 lol that definitely was not you in the screenshot.
I agree really don't like limiting play selection either.
I really like the idea of point value reducing each time a play is used.
