There are 4 x 3 skills using favorites.
All the controller keys are committed and it would be such a huge mechanic change, that getting a 4th live skill seems improbable if not impossible.
Just change your favorites profile for additional power loadouts.

The controller issue could be fixed if a single button press hold activated all the powers on a different 'line'
To explain in inquisition if you pressed and held the left controller button it swapped to a second set of skills ans the you just had to hit whichever button the skill correlated with.
The reason there is so many issues with skills this time is the addition of the jump jet - it alone takes three buttons. One for jump, one for mid air dash and another for mid air hold.

Well on PS4 we still have directional touchpad swipes. Warframe makes use of them. Right now the only purpose touch pad serves in andromeda is as a button, no swipes. Xbox would be boned though.
I know you get 4x3 skills but it's a total console mechanic. When you're a PC gamer who played MMOs with multiple skill bars, this feels some over-simplistic.
Guild Wars 2 has something with weapons swapping between two weapon sets that give you different skills, but I wasn't a fan of that either.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for a skill bar with 20 skills but I like the set up in the previous ME games with skills better than this.
If I could get an alternate mode where I could get 3x4 instead of 4x3 I'd be a lot happier already. Not holding my breath though 😉
I mean (this will be harsh) since this game is betting everything on gameplay and action and few or nothing on the story, at least provide a compelling gameplay! Give this fourth slot!
