Why couldn't Bioware offer the OPTION to have the altered scenes? Why not leave it up to us to decide on what kind of gaming experience we want to have? Just have a simple check box in the game that makes it so you can choose to have the alter scenes or not. I mean if they can do that with the original Mortal Kombat for the Genesis where you had to input a code on your controller to get the blood, (ACABABBA, I still remember the code) why can't they put it as an option in the settings? Why can't every dev do this and leave it up to US?!

Because this is not about people wanting the scenes removed from the game for their enjoyment while they play, it's about some activists who want the game censored so that other people can't even view that content if they want to.
