@Fred_vdp
i agree with most of what you said but those "kids" who started playing games back in the 80s and hell even 90s are adults now and not much games for us unless they allow for mod support remember our talk was about game devs in general that means Ubisoft, EA, Activision etc. Not just EA and this topic although that was the trigger for the bigger conversation.
"BioWare has become less conservative over the years"
Not nearly enough compared to Movies and TV which it should be by now in my opinion. and probably would be if these SJW and Resetera wouldn't exist
"Anyway, here's a confirmed example of another shot that has been altered. Why is there no outrage over this? (Top: Original. Bottom: Remaster)"
i can counter you and say "Whats wrong with the original? " i see nothing wrong with it and no reason to change it.to me i would still prefer the original yes the new one is more personal but original gives more background and shows more of the surrounding the best thing Bioware could do is just give the player control over the camera or not change them. the more they change the more i think its false advertising it don't look like a Remaster it looks more like a Remake don't think it would hold in court that's just my opinion xD
Just imagine if someone would make a 100% Remaster of Duke Nukem 3D or original Shadow Warrior nothing left out nothing censured would that be accepted by today's standards?
im going out on a limb here and say big fat nope!!! why? this is what i mean games are going backwards they were controversial back then but today 25 years later people should be more progressive not regressive
BioWare are essentially doing a 'Director's Cut' of the cutscenes.
With higher definition to play with, they have the option to make the game look fresh and sharp.
We'll see soon enough how the exercise has turned out.

@SofaJockeyUKyeah that makes perfect sense Director's Cut with a new Director and a new vision instead of making the game they couldn't done back then remember Miranda was supposed to be blond but due to "Technical difficulties" they couldn't do it which i call total BS on.
Having the zoom on those chars so close as in Fred_vdp
post #121 will look terrible on my pretty big and close monitor since most games are quite zoomed out for a wide angle effect i built around that unless i can zoom it out my self it will feel like i am standing 15 inches from them :S Options are key i cant stress this enough they should have a toggle in menu for original or the "new" version PLUS this could been a great "test" for the new game to see what people preferred in terms of style
we will all see how it turns out this is true, since EA wont stop to listen to us its quite clear they dont give a [CM - Edited profanity] but stop defending them for silly decisions like this the people have spoken again on utube and here there is a handful of people who dont mind and dont care, if they truely dont mind and dont care they also wont mind having the original scenes.vs the thousands who really want the original scenes
i do agree that the sharpness and overall fidelity looks better but i cant get behind butt censorship and the unnecessary zoom some scenes also lost some details in the comparisions
