Ashley/Kaidan Neck Issue (ME1LE)

Hello, I really don't know if there is a degenerative feature in the LE that makes new bugs continue to auto generate or if this is one of those bugs present in the Legacy versions but I noticed a video on YT of Kaidan stretching his neck in the Citadel elevator, I had a laugh and moved on but then, Ashley did it in my PT and I was like "Ok, so they both have that issue," and then while Shepard was giving his speech after taking command of the Normandy Ashley actually was stretching as Shepard was finishing the speech.

It could have looked normally as if she was getting amped for the fight ahead but she did it like two more times when she normally just looks surprised at her CO words.

Don't send me links to a PC MOD as I am in PS4, so if you do list a MOD that fixes the issue please do so players know on what platform they should be buying Bioware games from now on. I ran into a video that shows a very interesting interview to various Bioware developers and well, we the players have 100% of the fault then with the original ME3 ending and likely are at fault here for expecting most if not all of these bugs officially patched because that is what MOD are for, at this point this is part of their artistic integrity:

  • @EA_Mako  I am recording a playthrough of the LE and if I am not mistaken I recorded the part when Ashley does that during Shepard speech, I will be uploading and posting the video here, have a great day.

Do you have something against limber squadmates? Stretching is important! 😉

These little random animations definitely help everyone feel more alive to me, though I don't recall seeing one triggered twice in such short succession before.

Seems your Ash won't have to be told to loosen up around aliens on this playthrough after all! Interesting occurrence you've managed to capture. 🙂

@EA_MakoIndeed, stretching is important but if she keeps doing that so many times she will need a medical examination to see if she has undiscovered medical issues.

I never though she was so much against aliens (as she loves Tali) and is only wary of: Wrex (if he decided to take the ship it would be a massacre), Liara (Benezia daughter) and Garrus (First Contact War feels). I actually love how she is one of the most humane character and is representative of how humanity reacts to the aliens after only almost 30 years forming part of the galactic community: there is still mistrust (specially since they meet aliens who attacked them without declaration) from humanity to aliens and vice versa but because the player base is so enamored with the aliens we only see the faults of humanity and apply our own morality (I understand the: "I can't distinguish aliens from animals" was supposed to play near the Keepers but even humanity are animals themselves).
Williams also was kept from any military posting where she could have been working with other aliens so that meant her doubts never evolved up to this mission , and that is assuming Shepard allows to recruit the three aliens (Liara is a must and yes, apparently there are people who don't recruit: Tali, Wrex or Garrus), because the Brass was still punishing the Williams.

There are a few videos in my Mass Effect playlist from ME1 and ME3 that show her for who she is heck in ME3 she mentions she is worried and concerned of the Primarch son and after the Turian Bomb mission she has a wonderful conversation with Tali (you need to complete those two missions after Rannoch and you can get some banter from Ashley to another person, which due to a conversation that isn't triggering but modders restored we can see she has a talk with Liara after the Coup making me suspect there are more triggers that since the Legacy version aren't working).

Oh I'm a big fan of Ashley, actually. She has some fantastic character development and growth that is sadly cut short in a lot of the recent first-time playthroughs I've been watching.

We get very limited time with her before recruiting other squad members, after which point the human squad members typically fall by the wayside for many people. So some of those initial reactions can color how she's perceived and lead to her being Virmire'd before she gets a chance to really develop.

I definitely enjoy her backstory and development quite a lot, even if Tali's always best girl. 😉

@EA_Mako I think that is a problem that a loud minority of users elevated the lies she is racists and new players barely get to see her proper character development (there is even an article that calls her grandfather a General Lee for how racists and incompetent he is and I was left with my chin in the floor, sadly new gamers read that and don't think to research by their own accord, seems there is unneeded fan reaction on one side and the other) and yes, the aliens in ME1 overshadowed the human companions and Bioware thankfully implemented those lessons in ME2 despite the fact there were more aliens versus humans as squadmates, then we recruited Legion.

I am still sore players only had a cameo appearance with A/K in ME2 and not having the option of going to Anderson after the Collectors Base requesting a meeting with the Council to show them the evidence, it could go like this:
Shepard is contemplating the Harbringer datapad and asks if he should deliver a copy of his mission to the Council and Anderson (which the player can choose to go or not), if Mordin and Samara survived it is almost guaranteed that the Council concedes how wrong and blind they were, if Legion was recruited and taken to the Collectors Base mission he could show them video evidence (built in camera) and provide vital information regarding the Geth, the Collectors Base fate could tip the trust of A/K and everyone who doubted him to his side while conserving it will trigger angry reactions (the governments would really be sorry they aren't the ones with the Base and the VS would be mad at how we trusted TIM), after the meeting we return to the Normandy and meet up with A/K who beat us there and we are told the Alliance authorized a mission to research the 37M year old cannon and the Reaper corpse and since the Normandy SR-2 is the only ship authorized to go there they will go in the ship (this can serve to end the relation there and then or start mending it so we don't get the rushed conflict we got in ME3, unless we ignore this entire questline and we get what we got in ME3). No other missions can be completed (so do Overlord before the quest chain starts in order to get more comments if you saved David, or left him), much like what happens with Liara but in this case we can travel to places like Tuchanka and Omega with her (the reason no other missions can be completed are because Shepard can't risk mixing them on things like LoTSB, Arrival, Overlord, etc as they are in official Council business).

I know it was a long read but that could have solved an issue with narrative pacing, if players complete this quest chain then Arrival would be even more tragic for Shepard as if we are rebuilding our relation with A/K either if it is: continue the LI (with permutations), drop the LI and be friends, stay barely friends or be friends and a meetup they agree upon later gets cut short by the DLC events (or the Alliance charging Shepard for being with Cerberus) and they tell the VS to focus on carefully researching the Reapers, if they agreed upon a more formal date we get Shepard breaking the news to either of them and afterwards that the conversation ends and the screen fades to black Shepard collapses in the floor with various tears in his eyes and we get a similar image as the camera switches to A/K.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I don't think anyone would ever spend energy into making a mod to remove idle animations.

@Fred_vdp I referred to the fact that regardless of the issue I can't install MODs, but thanks for that remark.

Yes, I'm aware. I just thought the suggestion that such a mod could exist was too funny not to comment. 😛
