Attractive Ryder builds, let's see'em
I'm not sure why they opted to make all the base base builds look like something you'd find in a dwarven pub on the Hobbit, but you can make your customized Ryder look good with some tuning and tweak...

I recently started my third play through (2nd I played Scott Ryder), and this time I used the #10 template as a starting point. I did a lot of tweaking, then re-tweaking, then fine tuning aspects, and settled on this little lady. I admit I've got a weakness for green eyed red heads, but even with that bias, I think she came out dang cute.
