bought the same game twice and cant get a refund and i cant gift it

so i told a friend i would buy him a copy of mass effect three since it was on sale and i already own it. but after i bought it i didnt get a product key to give him. it just said i could play it. but already own it. i looked it up thouroughly after that and found out that i cant gift games on origin. i guess thats okay but when i tried to get a refund it said the page didnt exsist and i ended up around the help section. i am pretty frusturated that it would even alow me to but the same game twice and not give me an option to gift it the second time. but i would at least happy if i could get a refund on the money wasted buying it a second time.
