[BUG] ME1 Framerate drop after killing docile salarians on Virmire

When killing the docile salarians in their cell on Virmire, the framerate is reduced to an unplayable level. Saving and reloading doesn't fix it. Shutting down the game and resuming also doesn't work...

Got hit by the Salarian bug last night. Here's the funny thing; this is the second time it's happened. The first time was when I was playing the original version on a different PC a couple of months before ME2 came out. This thing has nothing to do with the game being remastered.
