@Boomer_Fynix It looks like sfc accomplished something, at least. Does the game work now? If not, please try playing in a clean boot:

When you reboot, go through the Task Manager's background processes list and shut down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running, so basically anything other than Windows services and your graphics drivers. If you use a third-party antivirus, please disable that as well, at least long enough to test.
I ran a clean boot just as instructed, but it didn't seem to help. On a hunch I ran yet another file verification in the clean boot and after 2 hours it found and fixed 12 more files. I restored my boot settings and restarted my system. I'm not sure what happened, but I was finally able to move forward! I played a few minutes before creating a new save. Whatever the problem was, it seems to be fixed. Thanks for the help! Here's hoping it lasts!

@Boomer_Fynix It's possible that your antivirus prevented the original repair from working properly, or that some other service did. It's also possible that the original repair didn't work for no good reason. (I like to blame Origin.) Whatever the case, I'm glad to hear you can play now.
