[Bug?] Unable to toggle options in Photo Mode (ME1)

I've been having an issue with photo mode where sometimes I'll open it up and it won't let me toggle any of the options, like FOV or hide party members or etc. I can always scroll between the different "pages" on it using the left/right bumper, but sometimes it just acts like I'm not pressing left or right on the directional pad to toggle the options. Going in & out of photo mode or reloading the save sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I know this probably isn't that helpful, but it's super inconsistent and I have no idea what causes it to work or fail.

This is in ME1 on Xbox One.

  • Okay, so idk if this is a bug or not but I've found the reason this has been happening. Apparently Photo Mode doesn't allow you to toggle options while the camera is moving around, and we found that one of our joysticks likes to drift juuuust a little, making it seem like the toggle randomly stops working when in fact it's just stopped because there's nearly-undetectable movement. As long as the camera's not moving at all, the toggles work just fine.

That being said, it'd be nice if you could use the toggles regardless of camera movement to avoid this issue entirely, but I don't know how feasible that is. Anyway, I hope this helps someone else out there in case they have the same issue!

  • Replying to my own thread (lol); I've moved on to ME2 and this is still happening. I guess it must be an issue with Photo Mode in general. Doesn't stop me from using it entirely because sometimes it works, but it is a bit frustrating.

I have also had this issue in ME3. Fortunately, as I'm on PC, I can switch to mouse/keyboard temporarily. However, the directional pad input seems to be almost completely ignored in Photo Mode, most of the time. Only had it work properly when you first see Sovereign on Eden Prime in ME1.
