It's this. I've had the same issue. Kadara is an odd map. There are certain points than can only be approached via roads or else you're considered out of bounds. Find a road that seems to take you in that direction and you should be fine.
LOL... I hated the Mako and the Nomad is just an improved version of that lol.... Here's wishing the Cortez shuttle back... Mount one of those gun on it(like the save admiral koris mission) lol wont be much left of the game if that happens though...
