Can't select items and the framerate is slow for ME3

I've been trying to find a similar post with the problems but none of them are helping me.
My boyfriend got ME3 for me recently. I loved playing it on the XBOX... but switching to PC is a hard transition to make. I was playing from the beginning and I couldn't select/pick up items or anything and when I tried out my melee, I kept missing the husks. It was really upsetting because I don't know what could be wrong.

I run on 4 GB of ram, have tons of space left on this new computer. It's a reduxed Acer made for gaming specifically. I have no clue how to check my drivers or graphics card with this Windows 8.1 system.

Can someone help me out a little?

  • As expected, this PC is not meant for gaming. Minecraft and League of Legends work fine because they're not very demanding.

Mass Effect 3 is another matter. You have Intel HD graphics, which are not meant for gaming. It's listed as unsupported in the Mass Effect 3 system requirements.

Unfortunately, graphics hardware in laptops can't be upgraded, so if you really want to play Mass Effect 3 on PC, you'll have to buy or build a PC with a dedicated graphics card by Nvidia (Geforce) or AMD (Radeon).

  • The inability to activate objects and doors is linked to low framerates. Fix the framerate, and you can open doors.

To check your hardware, on your keyboard press the windows logo + R. This will open a dialog box. In this dialog box, type dxdiag and then press enter. At least, that worked on previous versions of Windows. In any case, find a program called dxdiag and open it.

You'll see most of your relevant hardware specs on the main page and the graphics hardware is on the display tab.

At this moment, it seems to me the most logical conclusion is that your PC isn't made for gaming and is too far below the system requirements to be playable. When you come back and post your hardware specifications, we might be able to narrow it down a little.

Also please specify if you have a laptop or desktop PC.

It's an Acer Laptop, not totally sure what model. I also didn't know how much or how little you needed so I just copied and pasted. I've not had any problems with my high graphic mods for minecraft or when I play League of Legends or a few other HQ graphic games. I don't know why it wouldn't be alright for mass Effect when I'm running it low quality.

    Ugh...
Thanks. I was told this computer HAD an AMD card in it is why I purchased it in the first place.
That was very helpful, thank you.

If there's an AMD sticker on the laptop, you likely have an AMD processor. That was their main business before they took over Ati.

It may also be possible that there is indeed an AMD GPU in there but that the PC is using the integrated graphics instead. If the laptop came with an AMD driver CD, install it.
