I'll admit this crafting system is a bit of a mystery to me still. I wondered if there was a way to retrieve augments or even just deconstruct crafted items at all cause so far I hadn't run into it and the game doesn't really explain these things very clearly or I missed something.
Since I've only played on normal difficulty I haven't really been in trouble because of it, so it's more that it's an annoyance for me.
Anyone have any suggestions about a good source of info about this stuff?
Yup if you deconstruct your weapons and armor, all your augs and mods will be back in your inventory, DONT sell them though, if you sell your weapon, you sell all attached augs.

It's worse than you think. I don't even know how to deconstruct something beyond the option you get when picking up loot. (Hides in shame)

I could have sworn that you can unequip your helmet, as the gameplay setting for helmets has "as equipped" as an option. So you only *need* an extra chest option. And it's easy to craft a basic Tier 1 item. I think you have to have a melee weapon and one weapon, but that's it. My current loadout is a machinegun pistol, two rifles and a shotgun. Because that N7 shotgun is brutal.

You can do that in your item menu. Down there, there's option to drop as well.

Non-equipped items in the Inventory can be deconstructed by highlighting them and hitting the "X" button (for PC). It's handy at higher levels to get the rare weapons that require vandium to make, deconstruct them and then use the extremely rare components to build what you want with more augment slots.

Ahh thanks for that. I definitely overlooked that.

Why craft anything when you can get bestlevel items from multiplayer to singleplayer via the APEX Pathfinder reward boxes. And in NG+ every item you find is level IX at lvl79, i assume it would be X at lvl80. You won´t get enough research data and mats, not to mention character level, in your first playthru to craft the high-end Advanced -level items anyway
Every damn mod i crafted to N7 Valkyrie just made it worse. Beam emitter, the turn-every-projectile-into-sticky-granade, electricity gun. Is so much better with just some shield, ammo etc. mod and keep it regular otherwise. Well the whole N7 Valkyrie ain´t what it was in ME3, N7 Piranha is the thing now \,,/

I think any of the bought or reward weapons have only two mod slots. So to get the absolute best weapons, you have to craft them. You want Rare and Ultra-rares with the enhancement from Cryopods so you can have 5 augment slots. Double-mod slot by default and then useful augments (+dam, seeking plasma, sticky grenades, etc).
You don't get that out of random drops.

Dont worry about it... I didnt even know Alt-Enter will give me full screen mode until someone here taught me lol... This old dog is learning new tricks...
Anyway to deconstruct, go to your inventory, click onto the item you wish to deconstruct, for PC users press the key X. It's also stated in one of the tabs below, so you can also click it with your mouse, if you use ps4 or xbox, then I dont know lol... Think read the screen, should have stated it somewhere...
